LIP PLUMPING TREATMENT

What is it?

This Needle-free Lip Plumping Treatment uses vegan, pharmaceutical grade cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) to add fullness to the lips.  Gives a very soft, plump, natural look that lasts 2-6 months without the intense bruising and swelling associated with the use of fillers and needles.  Since our bodies naturally produce HA, it is reabsorbed/broken down by the body over time.  HA not only aids in adding fullness, it stimulates collagen and elastic to improve the skin overall.

Cost:

Cost is $300 per vial.  The cost is split over your two sessions: $200 for initial, $100 for 2 week top up.
Keep in mind the conversion of 1 vial = 1/5th teaspoon.  If you’re looking for a more real-world example look at a Hershey’s Kiss: a typical Hershey’s Kiss is = to approx. 3.2 vials.

FYI: traditional needle injection run $700+ per vial.

Pre-treatment:

There are a few things you should do to prepare your for your treatments.  The following is a list of concerns and contraindications that must be avoided prior to your treatment.  Please make note and book your treatment appropriately:

  • Make sure your lips are hydrated for this treatment.  If your lips are dry/cracked/peeling etc. they will be more susceptible to swelling, bruising, bleeding, and/or tenderness.

  • 5 days before treatment, you must stop the use of all blood thinners, fish oil, asprin, ibuprofen, etc; these can make you more sensitive to bruising and swelling

  • If you tend to bruise easily, we recommend trying an Arnica supplement.  You can find many options on Amazon.

  • If you are on, near or have just finished menstruation you are more prone to bruising, swelling and tenderness and it is recommended to wait.

  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure to area(s) to be treated (natural or artificial, i.e. tanning booth) 1 week prior to appointment; sun exposure makes skin much more sensitive to this treatment, can cause hyperpigmentation and increases sensitivity.  You will also want to avoid sun exposure 48 hrs after treatment.  Always use SPF after 48hrs.

  • No laser treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or other resurfacing treatments, in/near area to be treated within the last 4 weeks, and no sooner than 4 weeks after.

  • Must not have had filler treatment in the lips for at least 6 months from another treatment or from an injectionist.  Mixing products is not recommended.

  • Make sure you are well hydrated so drink your water! HA binds to water/moisture in the skin so its beneficial if your body is hydrated.

  • Avoid alcohol 24hrs before treatment.

  • You must be 18+ for this treatment

Medical/Health Concerns:

  • Currently taking blood thinners (can cause bruising to skin and heightened sensitivity), can proceed with Dr. note

  • Currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • If you have herpes simplex and/or are prone to cold sores; if so, please start your antiviral medication 1 week prior to treatment and follow with one week after

  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments, can proceed with Dr. note

  • Current or history of cancer, especially malignant melanoma or recurrent non-melanoma skin cancer, or pre-cancerous lesions or after recovery from cancer till off medication for 6 months and must have Dr. approval prior to commencing treatment

  • History of bleeding disorders or use of anticoagulants

  • Open wounds/ulcers/sores (on/near treatment area)

  • Poor circulation (blood and lymph)

  • Recent scarring to treatment area

  • Skin disorders, can proceed with Dr. note

Treatment:

  • Your skin will be prepped for treatment

  • Using a pressurized hand tool, our HA will be applied to the lips in various places to reach desired fullness.  Please note that we will not use more than 1 vial per treatment. We recommend reserving a small amount of your HA for a 2 week touch up.  This treatment works best with layering in product in over couple weeks time.  You can buy more vials as needed to help reach your goal.

  • You are now ready for the day: no downtime

  • You're lips may be red, slightly swollen and or lightly bruised immediately after treatment, or the next day; this will dissipate over the next few days.

Post-treatment:

What to expect after treatment

  • You may have some swelling and light bruising.  Swelling usually very minimal and only lasts a few days; however everyone reacts differently.

  • Your lips may look and feel a little "bumpy" or uneven.  This is perfectly natural and part of the swelling/healing process.  You can give your lips a little massage to help but you lips will smooth over the next few days.  Massage should be gentle and you can do couple a day.

  • Avoid very hot and very cold beverages for the first 3 days

  • No cosmetics on/near treatment area for 3 days.  May use a NEW, sanitized, plain lip balm or a healing ointment such as Aquaphor if your lips become dry/chapped.  Only a thin layer a few times per day is needed to keep lips hydrated.

  • Absolutely do not pick at or scratch your skin or exfoliate it

  • Avoid excessive sweating, swimming (in nature or a swimming pool), soaking, steaming the treatment areas (bathtub, hot tub, sauna, hot showers, etc) for 5 days.

  • You can shower as normal but take care to not over steam or saturate your lips with water for the 1st 3 days.

  • The skin will be sensitive after your treatment and I can't say this enough: treat it gently and stay out of the sun!

  • No Botox, Collagen Injections for 4 weeks after (or before) treatment.

  • Results last 2-6 months.  Everyone's body metabolizes HA differently and results vary person to person and Face Envy does not guarantee your longevity or outcome.

  • We reserve part of your vial of HA for a 2 weeks touch up vs using it all at Initial Appointment.  Layering is the key to this treatment!

  • The Lip Plumping Treatment lasts 2-6 months.

Results vary depending on skin type, aftercare, age, lifestyle, etc.  I cannot estimate how many treatment sessions will be needed to reach your desired outcome or guarantee any outcome.  Our goal is to create natural looking, plumper and fuller lips and the longevity of your treatment is in no way promised for guaranteed.  Those looking for very full lips that last longer should contact their local injectionist for traditional injections (these usually last 4-9 months but are more costly as well).  We can make a recommendation of places in the Portland and Salem areas.
