What is it?

This is a chemical-free and minimally invasive technique for stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are what give our skin its texture, structure and appearance.  As we age, our production slows.  Lifestyle and skin care also play a role.

Microrejuvenation works by stimulating the production of new collagen in the skin. This is achieved by lightly puncturing the skin with very fine microneedles. The treatment utilities the skins ability to heal itself, in turn triggering the production of new collagen, as well as aids in the penetration of skin care product, increasing their effectiveness.  We use a serum rich with Hyaluronic Acid and Epidermal Growth Factor to really give your skin a boost!  We also follow each treatment with light therapy.

In addition to treating pores, fine lines & wrinkles, loss of elasticity,  scarring, and sun damage, Microrejuvenation :

  • Stimulates collagen production

  • Improves skin texture

  • Smooths and firms skin (great for post-op clients who may have sagging skin after cosmetic surgery)

  • Helps balance pigmentation

  • Brings more youthfulness and vitality to skin

There are a few things you should do to prepare your for your treatments.  The following is a list of contraindications that must be avoided prior to your treatment.  Please make note and book your treatments appropriately:

  • 5 days before treatment, you must stop the use of all exfoliants (manual or chemical) and avoid using any harsh products (such as hair removers or grainy scrubs) on the treatment area.  This does include any night creams you use that have Retinol or other exfoliating acids.

  • No waxing the treatment areas 5 days prior (and 7 days after)

  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure (natural or artificial, i.e. tanning booth) 1 week prior to appointment; sun exposure makes skin much more sensitive to this treatment, can cause hyperpigmentation and increases sensitivity.  You will also want to avoid sun exposure 5 days after treatment and always use a non-chemical SPF 30+ while undergoing treatments.  Overexposure to the sun MUST be avoided or your risk of hypergimentation is high.

  • No laser treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or other resurfacing treatments, in area to be treated within the last 4 weeks.

Medical/Health Conditions

  • Currently taking blood thinners (can cause bruising to skin and heightened sensitivity), okay to proceed with Dr. note

  • Currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • If you have herpes simplex and/or are prone to cold sores; if so, please start your antiviral medication 1 week prior to treatment and follow with one week after

  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments, okay to proceed with Dr. note

  • If you are HIV positive or have AIDS; okay to proceed with Dr. note

  • If you suffer from photosensitivity

  • Prone to keloids and scarring at your own risk; we do not go very deep into the skin but again, this is an at your own risk treatment

I want to note that cosmetics are to be avoided on treated area for approx. 72hrs after treatments; it is best to wait until your skin is done peeling/flaking, though not everyone will have a visible peeling/flaking phase.

I understand many love their cosmetics, therefore if you MUST wear your facial cosmetics, only sanitized cosmetics and brushes should be applied to the treatment areas, and no less than 48hrs after your treatment.
I recommend the following items:

Cosmetic Sanitizer

 Brush Sanitizer

  • Your skin will be prepped (please skip wearing makeup to your appointment or you will be charged additional for makeup removal) with a gentle astringent to remove any residual facial oils to prime skin.

  • Numbing cream will be applied to treatment areas, covered and let rest for approx. 10 min

  • We will apply a layers of a serum and gently work the skin with our tool.

  • You are now ready for the day: no downtime at all!  You're skin will be red and or slightly swollen, this will dissipate over the next few hours and be gone within 24-48 hrs.

Aftercare is very important.  You should be gentle with your skin,  such as using a gentle cleanser and applying a nourishing moisturizer that is rich in Hyaluronic Acid and antioxidants.

Your skin may be pink/red for up to 3 days after treatment.  It can also feel a little itchy as your skin rejuvenates.

Stay out of the sun for the first 5 days! Please use SPF daily of 30+ after.  My recommendation is DRMTLGY Anti-aging Sunscreen

Cosmetics are to be avoided on treated area for approx. 72hrs.  Of course I understand many love their cosmetics, therefore only sanitized cosmetics and brushes should be applied to the treatment areas and no sooner than 48hrs after your treatment; see above for products you can purchase.

Sun (natural and artificial) is to be avoided 5 days after your treatment and then SPF of 30+ must be applied to the treatment area when in the sun; OVEREXPOSURE MUST BE AVOIDED!  Your rejuvenating new skin will be much more sensitive to hyperpigmentation so following this after care is very important and vital.

Absolutely do not pick at or scratch your skin or exfoliate it.  It may feel itchy as it heals, be gentle!

If you use one, you can return to using you nightly Retinol cream 72hrs after your treatment.

It is possible to experience a breakout after your treatment.

Avoid sweating, swimming (in nature or a swimming pool), soaking, steaming the treatment areas (bathtub, hot tub, sauna, hot showers, etc) for 72hrs.

The skin may be sensitive after your treatment and I can't say this enough: treat it gently and stay out of the sun!

Results vary depending on skin type, aftercare, age, lifestyle, etc.  I cannot estimate how many treatments will be needed to reach your desired outcome for these reasons, or guarantee any outcome.  I recommend a min. of 6 treatments to see benefits, especially if you do not regularly care for your skin.

Also, please remember that everyone reacts and heals differently.  You may experience all, none, or a few of the above mentioned.
