WHAT ARE MY BROW OPTIONS AT FACE ENVY?
Face Envy offers:
~ Ombre Powder Brows
~ Powder Brows
WHAT IS A POWDER/OMBRE BROW?
A Powder or Ombre Brow is when we do Shading only on the brows, using manual or machine techniques. Once healed the look is very powdery, resembling the look of brow cosmetic powder.
Powder & Ombre Powder Brows are a perfect choice for all skin types and ideal for oily,
mature skin, sun damage, large pores, or those who have faded, old PMU
that needs to be covered/re-worked.
Powder is a soft, solid brow throughout the entire brow whereas Ombre is lighter in
the front and darkens throughout towards the tail where it is darkest.
Powder and Ombre Brows are great for all skin types, gentler on the skin and have longer
lasting results than microblading that won't fade cool and ashy.
Touch-ups/Color Boosts are usually done every 12+ months.
CAN ANYONE HAVE PMU (PERMANENT MAKEUP)?
These are forms of tattooing and all clients must be 18+ years of age.

DO YOU FILL ANOTHER ARTISTS' WORK OR CAN I BOOK MY PERFECTING SESSION WITH YOU?
All new clients are required to book a new service. My Perfecting Sessions and Refreshers are for my clients, thank you.
WHAT'S THE COST?
Note about pricing: the average hourly rate for a skilled tattoo artist is $175+ per hour.
PMU is specialized tattooing on the face that requires specific training. PMU Artists also use more products than most traditional tattoo artists, such a topical numbing agents and countless disposables and tools during each session. Additionally, PMU Pigments are 5-7x more than the cost of traditional tattoo inks. Sarah has undergone many trainings, educational seminars, has many certifications and uses the highest quality products.
Your cost for 4-5 hrs of Brow work (this is time combined for Initial & Perfecting Session) is a total of $550* split into 3 payment: $100 booking fee, $300 Initial, $150 Perfecting Session.
*rates may change at any time.
If you do not have any of the contraindications listed, please text or email a clear picture of your brows to Sarah (makeup free please) within 48hr of booking your appointment so she can verify you as a candidate and approve you to book. Sarah just needs to verify there is no predominate existing tattoo in the area (or that the tattoo is light enough to be covered/worked with without lightening services) and that your skin is free any disorders that may inhibit PMU Brows.
WHAT IS THE SHADING/OMBRE/POWDER PROCEDURE LIKE?
Here is a 2 min. video to give you an idea:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
The healing can be bumpy ride if you have not done your research and if
you do not follow your aftercare to the letter. The process typically takes
4-10 weeks for a full heal/skin rejuvenation; each client is different and it is
important to remember that everyone heals differently but as long as you
following your aftercare, you are doing great! TRUST THE PROCESS!
Highlights to keep in mind during the healing process:
The brows may be red, irritated, and swollen for up to 5 days after the
service, and they can also appear up to 3x darker, thicker and may be uneven,
this can last for up to 1.5 weeks after your treatment; this tends to dissipate
starting around day 4 as your swelling and irritation subside, as you continue
to heal and your skin begins to rejuvenate.
Color is often very warm in the beginning! Trust the process, your brows
will calm and settle into the proper color we have chosen to match your
brow hair and skin tone.
It is normal for some light scabs to form and for the skin to flake off as
it heals and rejuvenates. Following your aftercare to the letter will lessen
any potential scabbing. Flaking will happen as the skin heals and rejuvenates itself.
As the healing continues, the brows appear softer and less visible (sometimes is seems like they are disappearing completely) but the pigment will reappear towards the end of your healing phase as your skin fully rejuvenates itself.
Many younger clients produce more collagen during healing and their brows can heal much lighter/patchy. Not to worry: this is what you Perfecting Session is for! Please think of your initial PMU Brow session as laying the ground work for your new brows and Perfecting Session where adjustments are made and thing refined.
It is important to trust the healing process and stay calm! A majority of clients think something is wrong during their healing and the couple weeks are the toughest. Do your research about the process, be prepared, follow your aftercare to the letter, and again: trust the healing process.
And again, anything that heals unevenly will be addressed at your 6-8 week Perfecting Session.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
Double check list of contraindications above.
Before your appointment, please avoid alcohol, ibuprofen, aspirin, and any other pain relievers 48 hours before your appointment.
NO Caffeine 4hrs before your appointment as it increases sensitivity and blood flow; increased blood flow means it is harder to deposit pigment as excess bleeding pushes the pigment out.
Excessive sweating needs to be avoided 7 days after treatment. That means no vigorous exercise or strenuous activities so get a good workout in the day before and prepare for light, non-strenuous exercise only during your healing (walks, light/casual biking, etc).
Retin A/Retinol & any AHA's must be stopped at least 10 days prior to service
Blood Thinners (including prescribed and over the counter such as aspirin, etc) must be stopped at least 5 days prior to service
Fish/krill oil must be stopped at least 7 days prior to service
Botox and like injections need to be done 3 weeks BEFORE your PMU Brows, and continued as recommended by your injection specialist.
These is minimal talking during your service. Face Envy plays music/pod casts but please feel free to bring earbuds to listen to your own music, audio book, etc.
If you are exceptionally nervous for any reason, perhaps bring a stress ball to squeeze.
If you are concerned about the healing process, in particular possible scabbing (which should be minimal IF you follow the aftercare) and flaking stage, purchasing some over-sized fashion glasses to wear are a great way to help hide your brows! We carry some super cute ones at the studio that cover the brows perfectly!
Make sure you have some great aftercare products for your new brows! You will need a mild/gentle cleanser and a healing balm/ointment/salve. Avoid products with alcohol.
A gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil can be purchased at nearly any drug or grocery store, as well as our recommended go-to ointment Aquaphor.
You can also find wonderful after care products via Amazon such as Tattoo Goo, H2Ocean, and After Inked products.
DOES IT HURT?
This is hard to answer as everyone's pain tolerance varies greatly. Face Envy numbs clients with topical numbing agents before and throughout the procedure to help keep you comfortable. Many client fall asleep!
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
There are many factors that affect the retention of your pigment: skin type, aftercare, how your body heals in response to trauma, are we using dark or light pigments, etc.The following is a rough guideline:
Powder and Ombre Brows typically last up to 36 months with touch-ups/color boosts needed every 12-18 months. Bonus for Powder & Ombre Brows is that if you need touch-ups or color boots sooner, they can be done more often that microblading because these techniques are gentler on the skin.
You can increase the longevity of your PMU by:
following after care to the letter
avoiding harsh topicals/AHA's/Retinols and exfoliants on the brow area
avoiding chemical peels & laser therapy near and on the brow area
staying out of the sun & tanning beds and using UV protection daily and avoiding overexposure to the sun during sunny seasons and when on vacation.
CAN I CHOOSE MY SHAPE AND COLOR?
Face Envy provides every client with detailed brow mapping and skin analysis. These are based on your facial/bone structure and skin tone/undertone. We will work together to outline the perfect shape of brows for you and the most complementary color to accent and compliment your facial structure and your personal taste.
CAN IT BE REMOVED?
Though microblading and brow PMU has been titled a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, it should be considered permanent and much thought and research should be made when considering PMU to make sure it is the right choice for you.
With that said, nothing is ever "permanent" or forever so do not ever feel overwhelmed if you are unhappy with your brows. Laser removal/lightening is the quickest solution and we have partnership with a trusted Portland clinic, please ask Sarah.
Face Envy is trained and certified in all-natural saline removal/lightening and offers this service in emergency cases! If you have botched brow, they can be removed/significantly lightened within 24hr of botched work.
